Positive Displacement (PD) Flow Meter

Positive Displacement (PD) Flow Meter

Positive Displacement (PD) Flow Meter – Description

A Positive Displacement (PD) Flow Meter is a highly accurate flow measurement device that measures the volumetric flow rate of liquids by repeatedly trapping a fixed volume of fluid and counting the number of times this volume passes through the meter. The flow rate is directly proportional to the rotational speed or movement of the internal measuring elements.

PD flow meters are widely used for measuring clean liquids, viscous fluids, oils, fuels, chemicals, resins, and lubricants where high accuracy and repeatability are required.

Key Features

  • High measurement accuracy (typically ±0.1% to ±0.5% of reading)
  • Excellent repeatability
  • Suitable for low to high viscosity liquids
  • No requirement for long straight pipe runs
  • Direct volumetric measurement
  • Available with pulse, analog, and digital outputs
  • Low flow rate measurement capability
  • Suitable for custody transfer and batching applications

Applications

  • Petroleum and fuel measurement
  • Lubricating oil systems
  • Chemical dosing and transfer
  • Food & beverage processing
  • Paints, resins, and adhesives
  • Pharmaceutical industries
  • Custody transfer operations
