Capacitance Level Switch

Capacitance Level Switch

Capacitance Level Switch – Description

A Capacitance Level Switch is an electronic level sensing device used to detect the presence or absence of liquids, powders, granules, and other materials in tanks or vessels. It operates by measuring changes in capacitance between the probe and the tank wall (or a reference electrode).

Working Principle:

  • The probe and tank wall form a capacitor.
  • When the material level reaches the probe, the dielectric constant around the probe changes.
  • This change alters the capacitance value.
  • The electronics detect the change and switch the output ON or OFF to indicate the level condition.

Advantages:

  • Reliable operation with liquids and solids
  • Suitable for conductive and non-conductive materials
  • Compact design and easy installation
  • Low maintenance and long service life.
